In his next Hindi project 'Tanu Weds Manu', Madhavan is romancing the Dhaam Dhoom beauty Kangana Ranaut. Having done relatively serious films like 'Teen Patti', '13 B' and the dramatic 'Three Idiots', the actor will be seen in a romantic comedy after a long time.
Can one say that the film pretty much took him back to those frothy days of 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' (the Hindi version of Minnale) with which he had made his debut as a Bollywood actor close to a decade back?
"No, 'Tanu Weds Manu' is very different," Maddy (as he is fondly called) negates the insinuation, "The film may be about a romance blooming in a small town but contrary to popular perception, these are people who are quite modern even though their values are pretty much intact."
'Tanu Weds Manu' required the cast and crew of the film to travel extensively right through the Northern part of India.
"It was one journey of my life," smiles Maddy who had a similar travelling experience in 'Three Idiots' as well, "We shot at places like Indore, Lukcnow and Kapurthala. It was a very realistic set up. Having said that it was a lot of fun as well, something that I was longing for."
One hopes to have some fun as well when this Aanand L Rai directed film releases all over on 25th February. 'Tanu Weds Manu' is about two diverse personalities, Manu (Madhavan) and Tanu (Kangana), and how they end up getting married.
